Dr. Michael Drake
Dr. Michael Drake is a 2008 graduate of Auburn University with a B.S. in Zoology, a 2015 graduate of St. George’s University College of Veterinary Medicine with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, and has a Master's of Science in Wildlife Conservation Medicine. He completed his clinical year at Murdoch University College of Veterinary Medicine in Perth, Australia. During his clinical year, he completed an externship at the Memphis Zoo and worked on research projects involving the endangered takahē in New Zealand and platypus in Tasmania. He is also an active member of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians, Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians, and the Calusa Herpetological Society.
In 2015, Dr. Drake moved to Fort Myers, Florida and has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery with an emphasis on exotics. He started working at Charlotte Animal Hospital in September 2017. What he enjoys most about Charlotte Animal Hospital is his coworkers, the wonderful clients and patients, and helping animals in their time of need.
Dr. Drake’s hobbies include; scuba diving, kayaking, tournament paintball, home brewing, and fishing. He has 3 dogs named Pepper, Porter, and Frank, 15 snakes - Breeds include: Amazon Tree Boas, Brazilian Rainbow Boas, and Woma Pythons, and 1 Veiled Chameleon.
